How well do you remember superheroes? The objective of this post is very simple – how one can build a Windows Phone quiz game/app in less than 10 minutes. Once you will learn how to do that, you will be able to build your own games in minutes such as Super Villains, Planets of the Universe, National Flags, Flowers of the world, Beautiful places in Bangladesh, and what not. Only sky is the limit.
The Game
Let us take a look at the very simple game UI first and learn the game rule. The gamer will be provided with a superhero image and three options. One of the options is correct. S/he has to tap one choice in order to proceed with the next super hero image, but the game will not reveal if s/he has chosen wrong answer or not. Once all photos are displayed in a randomized sequence, it tells the user whether s/he has won or lost. A single mistake is enough to lose the game. Here’s a detail walkthrough from me how this simple game was developed (watch it in a new window):
If YouTube has been banned in your country, here’s the vimeo version of the same video (takes time to load in slower connections – if you still experience trouble loading the video control, watch it in another window):
Source code and Required Tools
All you need for developing this game is to first download free Windows Phone SDK 7.1. This 730MB download will install Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone. Source code is available here (SuperHeroes.zip). Now there’s no reason not to be a Windows Phone app/game developer anymore.
